Polk County Healthcare Workforce Collaborative
Year 1, Quarter 4
Welcome to the Polk County Healthcare Workforce Collaborative Quarterly Newsletter! For this inaugural issue we will be discussing the 4th quarter for the first year of the PCHWC. The first three quarters consisted of a lot of learning and introductions, but these last three months things really began to fall into place! Firstly, the PCHWC team became complete again when Jennifer Wagner accepted the position of Pathway Navigator, she is expected to begin in the coming weeks.
The Collaborative team was also busy these last three months engaging potential students and healthcare workers. They participated in 12 events, engaging 23 schools and 411 students. These events included Build My Future, which had thousands of students interested in trades attend. Our partners believed they spoke to hundreds of students interested in working in the healthcare field. The PCHWC team also hosted a Discover Healthcare Day at Mercy College of Health Sciences. This event was also successful as all seven of the partners were able to be represented. There were multiple colleges and career paths presented to the almost 100 students in attendance. Then afterward a panel of experts from some of the Collaborative partners ended the day with a productive Q&A session.
With now a full year under the Collaborative’s belt, things are really beginning to gain momentum and consistency. This summer will be very valuable to get things organized and ramped up for the next school year. Below are the events already scheduled on the calendar!
