Polk County Healthcare Workforce Collaborative

Year 2, Quarter 2

During the summer months, our goal was to prepare ourselves so we can hit the ground running once school begins and we can confidently say we accomplished that! Now that we’re over three months into the new school year, we have had two Discover Healthcare Days, including the most recent event with almost 150 Des Moines Public School students in attendance. We also coordinated a hospital tour at UnityPoint Health, an Allied Health Tour at DMACC, and we had a tabling opportunity at the Iowa School Counselor Association Conference.

Our Pathway Navigator, Jenn Wagner, has been busy as well working with students from our educational partners. She’s hosted several 1-on-1 meetings with over 30 students and is in active communication with many more via phone, email and text.

Even though the school year is about half done, we have a lot of great opportunities coming up at the beginning of 2025.
